Unusual English Georgian Sterling Silver Wooden Letter Opener 1816 Antique

Description

A rare and unusual Georgian English antique solid sterling silver and wooden handled letter opener. It is hallmarked for London 1816 with the maker being William Eley I & William Fearn. I suspect it has been either made from an earlier piece or the handle has been replaced. It has been superbly made and is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs, the collar moves slightly. It measures approx. 8.5 inches (21.5cm) long by 1.5 inches (3.6cm) wide and weighs 54 grams. A very nicely designed rare example.
