A French Art Nouveau style model of a young female on an alabaster base c1880. The bust length figure is made of spelter, a metal alloy less costly than bronze but popular in late 19thc continental sculpture as it can capture much detail. The figure is of a pretty young woman wearing a fashionable napoleonic style hat and open neck flowing dress. The dress is cold painted in verdigris green and the hair and other parts are lightly gilded leaving the areas of flesh in a bronzed finish. The figure is mounted on an alabaster pedestal base.
