Rare 278g Large Sterling Silver Lidded Chalice Cup Ciborium 1938 Religious

Description

A rare and beautiful large English antique solid sterling silver lidded chalice / ciborium. It is hallmarked for London 1938 with the makers marks being Charles Farris. It has been superbly deigned having an ornate base and lid finial being in the form of the cross. It in superb condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs, a single tiny mark see final photo, it has been gilded inside. It measures approx. 8 inches (20cm) tall by 3.25 inches (8.3cm) across the lid by 4.25 inches (10.74cm) across the base and weighs 276 grams (total silver weight). A very good quality well made rare piece.

Declaration

The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the 1930s.
