Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Queen Anne double-dome bureau cabinet features a double-arched upper section, often topped with urn finials, resting upon a sloped fall-front writing desk and lower chest of drawers. Developed in the early 18th century, these pieces combine a display or storage cabinet, a writing workspace, and drawer storage into a single architectural unit.

These cabinets were constructed using oak or pine carcases veneered with figured walnut, burr walnut, and herringbone featherbanding. Upper doors incorporated bevelled mirror plates or glazed panels, complemented by brass drop handles, brass escutcheons, and brass or carved wood finials.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary timber, hand-blown mirror glass showing light oxidisation or greyish foxing, and natural shrinkage lines in the veneers. Original brass hardware typically displays hand-cut threads and minor casting irregularities.

Positioning a double-dome bureau in a hall, library, or living room creates a high-impact architectural focal point. The fall-front writing surface can remain open to highlight internal pigeonholes, while the height of the unit balances surrounding modern soft furnishings.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice per year along the direction of the wood grain. Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent veneer movement and wood fading.
