Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Card Case/wallet with Thistle, Shamrock, Rose Pattern - Alfred Taylor 1861

We are delighted to offer this unique and exquisite Victorian solid silver card case with marks for Alfred Taylor, Birmingham 1861.

This case is made from a sturdy gauge of silver and features an elegant cartouche-like overall form with scrolled edges.

What is particularly delightful is the finely hand-engraved motif on both sides of the case featuring roses, thistles and shamrocks symbolising England, Scotland and Ireland. Each element has been intricately engraved with beautiful cross-hatching and contrasting lines in the background.

The centre of the case features a circular wreath cartouche with a family crest and motto "God Is My Help".

CONDITION

Great Condition - The card case is in overall great antique condition, with no major damage or issues. There are some minor dents to some of the corners, as shown in the last image. Otherwise in good order and wear commensurate with age.
