Superb Antique Silver Fruit Bowl with Pierced Decorations Sheffield 1912

A beautifully decorated antique silver fruit bowl, with elaborate pierced decoration and shell details. Superbly crafted, the bowl is oval in shape, the oval foot is mirrored on the inside as a central oval dish in smooth polished silver from which a neat arched gallery forms a basket shape which is topped with a deep rim of ornate swagged decoration with scallop motifs, all in pierced silver.

 

The perfect balance of flamboyance with elegance, this bowl would make a marvellous centrepiece to any table.

Hallmarked clearly to the base with assay marks for Sheffield, 1912 and makers mark of James Dixon & Sons Ltd.
