A Georgian silver vinaigrette with a beautifully gilded and pierced floral grille. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1818 and with the makers mark ‘SP’ for Samuel Pemberton.

Historical Context
Samuel Pemberton (1704-84) was a jeweller and toymaker in Snow Hill, Birmingham who registered several silver marks at the Birmingham Assay Office between 1773 and 1801. A long-established family within the West Midlands, his ancestor Roger Pemberton can be traced back to 1509 when he was Mayor of Walsall.
