A lovely Victorian silver and agate brooch in the form of an axe produced around 1900. The silver is finely engraved, mounted with a handmade scrolling c-clasp and a tube hinge. Set with two carved agate stones including red jasper and bloodstone. The "classic" bloodstone is green jasper (chalcedony) with red inclusions of hematite. Marked ‘SCOTLAND’ and ‘SILVER’.
