Victorian Scottish Silver Agate Brooch C1860

Description

Technical Description

A 19th century Scottish silver and agate brooch with ornately engraved silver and cairngorm citrines, the shape is referred to as a pseudo-penannular type brooch. The silver is mounted with a handmade scrolling c-clasp and tube hinge. The silver is set with four stones including bloodstone and red jasper. The "classic" bloodstone is green jasper (chalcedony) with red inclusions of hematite.

Date & Origin

Scotland or England, c1880. Period of Victoria.

Condition

Excellent, age-related wear as shown. Pin to rear in full working order. Silver unmarked which is quite normal for Scottish Jewellery of this type.
