Monumental French Cast Brass Fender

19th century
Description

Circa 1860. A very unusual and stylish monumental Louis XVI cast brass and pierced fender. The shaped fender, the ends with flaming spheres resting on a polished surface the flat section with dragooning on the edge and a pierced section beneath, with two bowed sections surmounted by large, polished brass cherub’s with a bow and arrow, a sea dolphin and other mythical motifs. The stylish shaped moulded base supported on cast brass block feet.
