George 111 Silver Sugar Basket by Hester Bateman

Description

This beautiful example of the work of the esteemed silversmith Hester Bateman was created in London in 1789. It has an ovoid form with beaded swing handle and rim. The pierced tapering body is engraved with a crest. The basket has a pale blue glass liner. It is 13.5 cms high excluding the handle and weighs 5.1 troy ounces ( excluding liner ) It is in excellent condition.
