Antique English Automated Biscuit Box / Ice Bucket C.1910

Description

A wonderful & elegantly simple design was used to create this English silver plated biscuit box dating to the early twentieth century. The hinged lid is operated by moving the handle backwards which operates the lid and keeps it in place in the open position for as long as required.

The interior was rather unappealing for usage, so I have just had my silversmith gilt (gold wash) the interior, I would be very tempted to use this as Ice Bucket, as useful as elegant and would sit equally well in a traditional or contemporary environment.

The underside is marked with the silversmith's initials, I think G & C G and EPNS for electro-plated nickel silver.

Excellent condition (one minuscule dimple at the rear), measuring 9 3/4" tall to top of handle and 5" in diameter across the top.
