A Rare 18th Century Silver Muffineer

A rare silver muffineer, dating from the middle of the 18th Century. This lovely example is of baluster form, with a stepped foot and a reeded band the the waist. The pull off lid is pierced and engraved with a sunburst pattern. Muffineers were used for shaking cinnamon, powdered sugar and other spices over buns, breads and cakes, to enhance the flavour. A fine and attractive example, both decorative and practical. Dimensions below.
