Description

Early 19th century Georgian sterling silver lady's mug / Christening cup. Baluster body is raised on a round foot; the top is trimmed with a beautiful high-relief border depicting flowers, foliage and fruit. The foliate scrolling handle is reeded and decorated with a central flower motif.

Made by Joseph Angell I and fully hallmarked for London, 1817.

Great antique condition. Maker's mark partially rubbed; it appears that silver soldering was done to the base of the mug at some point.
