Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The oblong body is beautifully shaped and crafted and is free from engraving. The box is domed to both sides and hinged to the middle, with thumb grips to aid with opening. Once open it reveals a richly gilded interior, with lovely clear Georgian hallmarks on view. An interesting and rare example, still usable today and making for a lovely addition to any collection.
