Description

A very pretty small gilt metal "tussie mussie" posy holder with original securing pin on chain and a looped clip at the back to attach to clothing or a purse. The body is formed from scrolled filigree panels with embossed acorns and pierced embossed sections with floral decoration. The tail is tightly coiled with a finely detailed textured pattern. Unmarked, French, c.1880.

It measures 8.5cm (3 3/8") long and 2cm (3/4") wide. It weighs 18g.

In excellent condition with no damage or repair; there isn't any sign that it had a finger loop originally and the clip at the back also suggests this was not a hand held posy holder. Minor handling wear only.
