Rare Sterling Silver Enamel Cat Kitten Cigarette Case 1945 Animals 184g

1920 - 1940
Description

A beautiful rare English solid sterling silver and enamel cigarette case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1945 with the markers mark being FG. It has been beautifully made with the front being painted enamel depicting cats playing with a beetle. It is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. The enamel is complete and free from chips repairs and cracks. Their are engraved owners details although very small. It appears the original owner was from the Lafone family of Westmorland (the Lake District), The Lafones were a highly regarded family. It measures approx. 5 inches (12.87cm) by 3.25 inches (8.5cm) wide and weighs 184 grams. A beautifully designed piece, the best we have seen for many years.
