Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The edges of the base and lid are decorated with dotted lines.
All interior surfaces are lightly gilded

Clear hallmarks are visible, on the underneath of the lid and the interior base, for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark for 1810 and silver maker's mark: Joseph Willmore, plus the monarchs head for George III. The hinge to the grill works well and the lid closes perfectly.

This is a beautiful item - ideal for a collector of vinaigrettes and by a well respected silversmith.
