Beautiful Edwardian Silver Butterfly Hair Comb Hallmarked 1901

Beautiful Edwardian silver butterfly hair comb. The butterfly is wonderfully detailed with elaborate pierced and engraved decoration, and is hinged to allow it to perch upright or more horizontally. The hair comb has two long prongs with twists with Art Nouveau-style shaping to the top section where the butterfly is attached.

 

This is a particularly fine example and would be a lovely item for anyone who loves butterflies. It would look wonderful in an elaborate hairstyle for a special occasion or could be cleverly displayed in the home as a decorative piece.

 

The comb is hallmarked as sterling by the Birmingham Assay Office 1901 with the makers marks for Adie and Lovekin. Hallmarks are impressed to the reverse of the comb and the front of the butterfly. 

Condition: In super antique condition.
