This is a lovely example of a hand woven Khamseh carpet dating from around 1890. The carpet has a very pleasing colour palette with mid indigo, warm red, ivory and green; and a design featuring animal and bird motifs around three latch hook medallions. The borders have a pretty calyx and leaf design flanked by skittle guard stripes.
