Antique Silver Novelty Powder-flask Butt Marker

1900 - 1920
Description

Well this is a rarity! An antique solid sterling silver butt or peg marker modelled as a powder flask.

It is clearly hallmarked on the neck for Chester 1912, with the maker's mark of Grey & Co. The powder flask-shaped body has a suspension loop attached to the base. The ingenious spring-loaded mechanism in the neck releases one ball at a time, which is presumably why the suspension loop is on the bottom rather than closer to the neck. The flask has then to be reverted before releasing another ball. Sadly, there are only three balls, numbered 1,6 and 8 - shame! It is priced accordingly. There are a few small dents to the body, which is, unusually, unengraved.

Dimensions:

Silver weight: 19g

Length: 8cm

Width: 3.5cm

Depth: 1cm

Complimentary gift wrapping is available on request.

Post and packaging are free within the UK. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs and please note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
