The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1869 with the maker's mark of George Unite.
This is quite unusual. Both hinged ends open to reveal eight pegs which are numbered 1 to 16. The case is engraved with foliage within latticework. There are centring initials on one side. The pegs are not hallmarked for silver and are clearly numbered.
