Antique Silver Watch Chain and Fob, Salford

Description

Antique silver watch chain and fob.

The chain measures 34cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar is silver but has no hallmarks. Each of the links has the lion silver mark. The clasp is hallmarked for 1911.

The chain comes with a silver and enamel fob, approximately 4cm x 3cm. The fob was awarded by The Humane Society for the Hundred of Salford. The Society was founded in 1789 ‘to reward persons who have shown courage and self-devotion on occasions when life has been endangered by water, fire, or other cause’. The back of the fob is engraved J Farrell, 1911.

Total weight of the chain and fob is 64g.
