Fabulous Antique English Cast Brass Serpentine Candlesticks C.1890

Description

It's been a while since I have had a pair of candlesticks similar to this, with their wonderful figural stem made from a serpentine or snake working it's way up to the candle holder, with the snakes head appearing here.

The highly decorative drip trays are very Art Nouveau inspired with stylized heart shapes to both top and bottom.

Naturally the bases have to be heavy to support their unusual form, you can see from the underside they retain their original heavy weighted bases.

Professionally repolished to gleam, they remain in superb condition ready to adorn your mantle piece or perhaps desk-top. The bases measure 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and each stands 6" tall.
