London 1912 Solid Silver and Ebony Music Conductor's Baton.

Description

London 1912 English hallmarked engraved solid silver and ebony music conductor's baton, used to conduct an orchestra or choir during a performance.

With the silver makers mark of Ebenezer Newman.

This is a lovely example with three separate sections of solid silver beautifully made foliate and scroll bright and matt engraving over the ebony baton. The hallmarks are all very clear on each section, and the centre section has a charming engraving within a shaped cartouche that says: "Presented To Mr. J. Bryson by Hesleden Choral Union 1913."

The ebony retains very nice colour and patina.

Hesleden is located in the North of England in County Durham.

Size-20.5 inches long by 7/8 inches diameter.

Weight-75 grams.

A lovely object to use for its original purpose or to display on table or desk.

A great gift for the person interested in music, or the collector of interesting silver objects.

In very good condition, this is a very nice example, with lovely provenance.

It would also make a wonderful gift for any important centennial celebration, as it will be exactly 100 years old next year.
