Hallmarked Rectangular Silver Snuff Box by Thomas Edwards, London, 1838

Description

Early Victorian hallmarked silver snuff box; of rectangular shape with fine hinged monogrammed lid, engine-turned panels with foliate decoration to the outside edges and original gilding to the interior. Exceptionally clear, full, hallmarks to both base and lid.

Of good weight (160g) and size (8.7 x 5.7cm), this item is generally in good original condition. There is a scuff to the outside base that has smoothed out a small area of the engine turned decoration (see photo).

Date: Hallmarked for London 1838, Silversmith Thomas Edwards, all hallmarks are crisp and unrubbed.
