Andrew Cox Antiques has dated this Victorian Leather Evening Bag to the Victorian era.
The bag is of a sturdy leather and rectangular in shape, with decorative tooling to the edges. The clasp is of Hallmarked silver and opens to reveal a silk moiré and velvet interior, with two compartments and a dedicated lipstick or scent bottle pocket to the side. Included with the handbag is a red Max Factor lipstick and a miniature 'Tartan Series' novel of Lady of the Lake, by Sir Walter Scott. A delightful example, still usable today. Dimensions below.
