C1707 Copy Large Lion Unicorn Sterling Silver Porringer Bowl Cup 1898 250g

Description

A beautiful very impressive large English antique solid sterling silver porringer cup / bowl. It is hallmarked for London 1898 with the makers marks being Lambert. It has been superbly designed being hand plannished and embossed with flowers and interestingly the emblems of the United Kingdom these being a Unicorn and Lion. I suspect it may be a copy of a piece of c1707 when the Treaty of Union was signed forming what it now the UK. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures approx. 7 inches (17.7cms) across including the handles and 4 inches (10cms) excluding them by 3.5 inches (8.7cms) tall to the top of the handles and weighs 250 grams. A superb interesting piece.

The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
