Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The maker's mark is also clearly visible for the silversmith: John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater. The set comes in the original retailers case, which is a brown leatherette material and inside is decorated with a lovely deep purple velvet pad and cerise satin with the retailers marks stamped in gold 'Mappin & Webb Silversmiths to the Queen London & Sheffield'.

This silver set is in superb condition and the case is also lovely, clean and stain free to the interior and great condition to the exterior (some light surface scratching mentioned only for accuracy and commensurate with age).
