Superb Dutch Solid Silver House Cabin Box for Thimble 1908 Antique Needlework

1900 - 1920
Description

A beautiful Dutch solid silver box. It is hallmarked with the Dutch silver marks including the lion and key export mark along with the date letter for 1908. It has been beautifully made being in the form of an Alpine cabin or lodge. These are sometimes called thimble boxes but I do not know if this is what they were intended for? It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean. It measures approx. 1.75 inches (14cms) wide by 1.75 inches (4.7cms) tall by 1.25 inches (3cms) and weighs 30 grams. A very high quality example.

Declaration

The Silver Squirrel has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
