Elegant Art Deco Silver Butter Dish by Mappin & Webb, Sheffield 1936

1920 - 1940
Description

This small and delightful pierced silver butter dish bears the marks of the illustrious Mappin & Webb and is dated Sheffield 1936. Of circular form, the sides pierced with lattice designs and raised on four bun feet. The dish flanked by elegant lug handles and fitted with its original blue glass liner. Completed by a well matched silver butter knife by Levi & Salaman dated Birmingham 1926.

Hallmarks:

M&W for Mappin & Webb.

Date letter "t" for 1936.

Lion Passant.

Sheffield Assay Mark.

Dimensions:

Length handle to handle: 9.5cm / 3.7 inches.

Diameter: 7cm / 2.6 inches.

Height: 2cm /1 inch.

knife length: 10cm 4 inches.

Condition:
