Victorian silver vinaigrette hallmarked Birmingham 1841 by renowned silversmith Nathaniel Mills

It is a beautiful cushion shaped vinaigrette, very tactile and curved to the base and the lid. The lid has crisp leaves & flowers engraved in a pretty design surrounding an empty oblong cartouche in the centre. Underneath on the base there is a lovely engraved flower. Inside the the grill is a very attractive foliate pierced design with a swirling pattern.

The hinge to the grill works well and the lid closes perfectly. Fully hallmarked on the inside of both the lid & the base for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark of 1841 and the maker's mark: Nathaniel Mills. There is also the maker's mark on the underside of the grill.

This is a beautiful example of early Victorian silver - ideal for a collector of vinaigrettes.

Condition: In great antique collector's condition, with only some minor scratching & slight tarnishing to the interior.
