A fabulous antique Victorian sterling silver and glass claret jug which has a bulbous shaped body with attractive etched glass detailing depicting flowers and bows and resting on a circular star cut base. The decoration on the hinged lid is unusual and the rope styled handle is a particularly interesting feature with bows attached at the end. The quality and design of this claret jug sets it apart from the normal examples and it would make a statement when displayed. It will hold 1.1 litres of wine.

It was hallmarked in Birmingham for 1868 by Hirons, Plante & Co.
