Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The George IV period, spanning from 1820 to 1830, is characterised by lavish ornamentation, heavy scrolling foliage, and classical revival motifs, often reflecting the transition towards early Victorian opulence.

These pieces are typically crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hand-chased repousse decoration and gilding (known as vermeil) on the interior of sugar bowls and cream jugs.

Authenticity is verified by examining the set of hallmarks stamped on the pieces, which typically include the makers mark, the sterling lion passant, the leopards head for London, the duty mark featuring the monarchs profile, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of assay.

An antique silver service can be displayed on a dark wood sideboard or tray to create a striking contrast, blending historic craftsmanship with modern minimalism.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth or specialized polish to preserve the original hallmarks and patina, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage intricate chasing.
