Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An early 19th-century Regency pair of tazzas dating from the 1820s, designed as decorative objects in a grand classical style. Each piece comprises a dark patinated bronze bowl resting on a fluted, gilded ormolu stem atop a square yellow Sienna marble pedestal with a stepped base. Notable visual details include a beaded rim on the bowl, leaf-carved and palmette motifs around the body, and distinctive dark brown and golden-yellow colourations across the mixed media construction. The items measure 21 cm high, 8.6 cm wide, and 8.6 cm deep. In a modern interior, this pair serves as a formal decorative accessory suitable for display on a mantelpiece, console table, or architectural shelf. The contrasting dark bronze and vibrant marble suit traditional studies, libraries, or living rooms looking to introduce classical Regency accents without overwhelming the space. The sturdy block pedestals provide secure placement on flat surfaces, and the compact footprint allows integration into both narrow and wide display areas.

FAQs

A tazza is a wide, shallow dish or cup mounted on a pedestal, which became particularly popular as a decorative accent during the Regency and Empire periods of the early 19th century.

Tazzas from this era were traditionally crafted using dark patinated bronze, gilt bronze or ormolu accents, and decorative marble bases such as Sienna or Nero Marquina.

Authentic pieces exhibit finely chased details, heavy cast bronze construction, genuine marble bases with natural veining, and an aged patina with subtle oxidisation.

A pair of tazzas is best styled symmetrically on a mantelpiece, sideboard, or console table to establish classical balance and introduce rich material textures.

Dust metal and stone elements regularly with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding liquid chemicals on porous marble and applying microcrystalline wax sparingly to preserve bronze finishes.
