A Superb Edwardian Silver Vesta/double Sovereign Case

1900 - 1920
Description

A delightful and interesting item of Edwardian silver. This rare piece is a vesta with a combined double sovereign holder. This lovely example has a stylish plain body with a striker to the vesta lid. The vesta lid is hinged and the interior is fully gilded. The sovereign holder also has a hinged lid, opening to reveal a matching fully gilded interior and the sprung loaded compartments for a sovereign and half sovereign. To the side is an attaching loop for a fob chain. A fine collector's item. Dimensions below.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits.

Hallmarks :- Full set to body and part set to interior. The vesta lid hinge is strong and closes with a pleasing 'snap'.
