Antique Victorian 18ct Gold Diamond Pearl Star Necklace/pendant/brooch - C.1890

We are delighted to offer this splendid antique 18ct gold diamond and pearl starburst necklace made in the Victorian era c.1890.

Upon first glance, this necklace immediately presents an air of extravagance and classical flair; an intricately crafted gold six-point star is embellished with pearls of tapering size and a central old cut diamond accentuates the star.

What is particularly noteworthy and delightful is the manner in which the space between the points of the star is elegantly filled with fleur-de-lis motifs with fine wire-like scrolls in between.

This piece can also be used as a brooch as a c-clasp pin is present (and removable) at the back. The bail of the pendant can be used for a chain/necklace, however, we would recommend using the smaller central bail to secure your chain as the intended bail has no closed end and may risk slipping off.

The entire piece is designed in a way that the centre is higher/points more than the edge and thus creates a curvature as if to invite the viewer to take a look from all angles.

Owing to such an intricate and carefully planned design, the gold can be seen shining from all angles complimenting the glistening central diamond.

Overall a truly elegant, distinguished and classical piece of Victorian jewellery, ideal for the discerning antique jewellery lover or for those wishing to make a statement with a historical piece of jewellery unlike contemporary designs.

Diamond is known to be the birthstone for April and June for pearls.

The pendant is unmarked as is common with articles of this period. As such, we have tested it for 18ct gold.
