Rare Arts & Craft Silver Vesta Case by J. H. Hillcox, Birmingham 1906

Description

This unusual and very tactile Arts & Crafts silver vesta case is dated Birmingham 1906 and was made by J. H. Hillcox. Of discoidal form, the slim body with a spot-hammered finish on both sides. The inner lid retaining its rich gilt wash. The side fitted with a suspension ring. The base with textured striker.

Hallmarks:

J.H.H for J. H. Hillcox.

Birmingham Assay Mark.

Lion Passant.

Date letter "g" for 1906.

Dimensions:

Diameter: 4.5cm / 1.6 inches.

Condition:

Very good.

Strong hinge.

Spring mechanism in full working order.
