Novelty Solid Sterling Silver Cello Box 1900 Musical Instrument Antique

1900 - 1920
Description

A superb Victorian antique solid sterling silver box. It is hallmarked with the English import marks for London 1900 and importers mark being that of Theodor Hartmann. It has been superbly made in the form of cello. It is in superb condition being free from dings, splits, holes and repairs. Note the F Holes on the front are pierced so it was designed to hold potpourri or large pills as opposed to snuff or tobacco. The lid fits tightly. It measures approx. 4 inches (10cm) tall by 1.25 inches (3.2cm) across by 0.5 inch (1.2cm) wide and weighs 30 grams. A very unusual piece.
