Rare Scottish Robb Ballater Sterling Silver Amethyst Letter Opener 1907 Antique

Description

A rare Scottish Edwardian antique solid sterling silver and amethyst letter opener, or maybe a bookmark? It is hallmarked for Edinburgh 1907 with the maker’s marks being that of Robb Ballater. It has been superb made having an unusual terminal in the form of a crowned lion and set with an amethyst. It is in good condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs but has a few scratches and marks to the tip. It measures approx. 4.5 inches (11.5cm) long by 0.5 inch (1.3cm) wide and weighs 6 grams. A very well designed rare little piece.
