Robert Bush Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
They bear no maker's name or other marks but on the bottom is a large crown - this was often used by the German Silversmith J D Schleissner & Sohn who worked in Hanau Germany in the mind to late 19th Century.

They measure 3 ½” (9 cms) high x 3 ½” (9 cms) across the shells and weigh just under 1 kg the pair which gives you some idea of the quality
