A very fine and beautifully proportioned (15.5cm (6 inch) diameter), solid silver card tray. The tray is of a shaped circular form with stylish raised piecrust rim which catches the light most attractively. It has no engravings or embossing and is a lovely plain polished silver, and stands solidly on three very attractive hoof feet. The hallmarks on the base are crisp and clear for the London Assay office with a date mark 1918, along with the maker’s mark, R W B, and the Harrods retailer''s stamp. R W B was Richard Woodman Burbidge, chairman of Harrods, who had their own silversmiths producing their own top quality items for the famous department store in Knightsbridge.
