An outstanding vintage ring in typical Arts and Crafts style with organic leaves and scrollwork shapes crafted with exquisite workmanship. The lapis lazuli cabochon at the centre is a lovely example, with an intense royal blue colour and nice show of golden pyrite flecks.
The ring is not signed but we have been assured by two Arts and Crafts experts that they believe it to be the work of Edith Linnell. Linnell trained to be an artist and spent years drawing items from the natural world, which is evident in her beautifully worked jewellery designs. She worked out of London in the early to mid 20th century, with her pieces shown in the Victoria & Albert Museum and sold at Harrods department store.
The ring is stamped STERLING and is in excellent vintage condition/antique condition.
Size: M (UK), approximately 6 (US). The face of the ring is 1.8 x 2.3cm and it sits around 8mm above the finger. The lapis measures approximately 9 x 15mm.
Weight: 5.4g.
