Antique Georgian Period Old Sheffield Silver Plated Wirework Fruit / Bread Basket Centrepiece

Pierced border, gadrooned rim and attractive, double rope-twist swing handle.

Condition: Overall good condition. The handle doesn't easily stay upright. If the basket is lifted up with the handle and then put down, it tends to stay upright (if only for a short while) but if just moved from the folded position, it doesn't stay upright at all. Aside from this, it is in lovely order for its age. The silver plate is in very good order with just a suggestion of copper bleed to the wirework, handle and a little around the hinges of the handle. A tiny bend to one vertical pierced section and 2 tiny pieces of the gadrooned border are missing but are not obvious, being either side of one of the handle hinges (as shown in the photos). All wirework is secure.

Height to highest point (excluding handle): 11.75cm

Height at lowest point: 8.25cm
