We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Store antique silver and stone items in a dry, tarnish-resistant lined box away from direct sunlight, and clean them gently with a soft microfibre cloth without submerging the stones in harsh chemical liquid dips.

Historic jewellery can be worn as a statement standalone piece against minimalist contemporary outfits or layered with modern silver accessories to create a contrasting textural element.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-correct silver hallmarks or traditional artisan fixings, hand-beveled stone inserts with natural variations, traditional C-clasps or secure padlock mechanisms, and signs of age-appropriate oxidation on the reverse.

These pieces typically utilise sterling silver mounts set with hand-cut and polished native Scottish stones such as banded agate, moss agate, jasper, and bloodstone, often fashioned into intricate geometric or scrolling motifs connected by sturdy link chains.

Victorian Scottish pebble jewellery, featuring locally sourced agates, jaspers, and bloodstones set in silver, gained immense popularity during the mid-to-late 19th century, largely driven by Queen Victorias affection for Balmoral and the Scottish Highlands.
