Pair of Gothic Oak Stools C.1890

19th century
Description

Fine pair of late 19th.c. Gothic oak stools c.1890. In solid oak throughout. 9½" x 19½" seats with chamfered edges. Over deep aprons front and rear. Beautifully carved on one side the the initials G N either side of an heraldic device with grotesques and double headed eagles, the other side with flower heads and scrolling foliage. Raised on attractively shaped ends, flared for stability. Joined with a shaped and chamfered stretcher with through tenon and tusk joints. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
