A Superb Pre-revolution Russian Silver Gilt Novelty Tea Strainer

A rare silver gilt 'suspension' tea strainer from pre-revolutionary Russia. This beautiful and unusual novelty piece is formed to look like a bucket, with engraved floral and foliar detail. To the front there is a vacant cartouche and the wire-work swing handle is attached to a clip. The clip is inserted into the teapot spout and gravity levels the strainer when in use. The body is richly gilded and this excellent and interesting collector's piece, is both decorative and usable. Dimensions below.
