A Superb Pre-revolution Russian Silver Gilt Novelty Tea Strainer

A rare silver gilt 'suspension' tea strainer from pre-revolutionary Russia. This beautiful and unusual novelty piece is formed to look like a bucket, with engraved floral and foliar detail. To the front there is a vacant cartouche and the wire-work swing handle is attached to a clip. The clip is inserted into the teapot spout and gravity levels the strainer when in use.
