Early Georgian Silver Wine Bottle Coaster Sheffield 1803 Nathaniel Smith & Co

Description

A very, handsome, Regency style antique Georgian sterling silver wine bottle table coaster, featuring a round bellied body and gadroon pattern with a neat protruding border to the top. The base is oak turned with a central silver button. Hallmarks are visible on one side for the Sheffield Assay Office with a date mark for 1803 and silver maker's mark: Nathaniel Smith & Co (this maker's mark is slightly rubbed, however, still distinguishable). The base is covered in the original green baize material.

 

Condition: A wonderful early piece and in good condition. The central silver button has some slight impressions, commensurate with age and mentioned only for accuracy. There is a slight piece of green baize material missing from the base covering. There is a small indentation around the edge.

 

Measurements: Diameter width: 14.4 cm Height: 4 cm Weight: 206.8 grams
