FAQs

Originating in France during the 18th century, jardinieres became prominent decorative indoor plant holders throughout Europe, flourishing particularly during the Victorian and Art Nouveau periods.

Traditional pieces were typically constructed from hand-beaten or spun copper, brass, or ceramics, often featuring soldered joints, cast feet, and sometimes inner metal liners to protect against moisture.

Authentic items display period-correct construction techniques such as hand-hammered marks, dovetail or folded seams, heavy gauge metal, and natural patination consistent with age.

It serves as an eye-catching focal point when placed on a side table or sideboard, contrasting effectively with minimalist modern furnishings and housing trailing green foliage.

Preserve the metal by dusting gently with a dry microfibre cloth and avoiding harsh chemical polishes that strip the desirable historic patina.
