Fine quality regency davenport, circa 1820.

Spindle gallery to the top leading to the original leather writing surface. Top opens to reveal a richly colored interior with 2 drawers.

Writing slope lifts up and with the aid of 2 brass arms, maintains a level writing surface.

4 lockable drawers to one side with pull out pen tray, mirrored on the opposite side with dummies. Standing on plinth base with brass castors.

Some loss to leather surface but is original. Minor surface marks and restorations to veneer.

This nineteenth-century Regency Davenport desk is made from dark brown palisander with a leather writing surface and brass hardware. The piece has a sloped writing top, carved scroll brackets, a spindle gallery rail, side drawers, and sits on a plinth base. A brass spindle gallery rail runs along the top edge, leading down to an original leather writing surface with some loss. Below the upper section, carved scroll brackets support the projecting writing slope, while a bank of four lockable drawers is fitted to one side with round wooden pulls and keyhole escutcheons. Minor surface marks and restorations appear across the veneer, complemented by a keyhole lock set centrally within the front edge of the writing box.
